Garlic
What for? Reducing cardiovascular risk and possibly some forms of cancer.
While chest pain, heart attacks and strokes largely affect middle age and older men, it's how they lived in their youth and early adulthood that set the stage. So, throw an extra clove into your sauce as a preventative measure.
Where to get it: Cloves of garlic (duh). Or supplements (odorless is fine).
How much: Unclear (recommendations vary from 600 to 1200 mg per day), but in an otherwise healthy person the most common side effect is the need for breath mints.
