What is it? A metallic chemical element. Its medicinal use dates back to ancient India.
Where is found? In many of the proteins in your body, as well as in the ground. Plenty of multivitamins include zinc, and it's also available as a separate supplement.
How does it help? There's an enzyme in zinc (acetaldehyde dehydrogenase) that helps the body minimize the effects of alcohol and excrete it more readily.
How much should you take? 25 to 50 mg daily.

just a nerd-like comment ;o) zinc does not contain any enzyme, but the acetaldehyde dehydrogenase needs zinc to work so that's why supplying some of this mineral can help in preventing/overcoming hangovers
