A goth woman who likes to be led around on a leash by her fiancé says she was "victimized" by a bus driver who wouldn't let them board. He reportedly chastised her, yelling, "We don't let freaks and dogs like you on." Dani Graves and Tasha Maltby (left) have complained to authorities in the British town of Dewsbury, saying that their being barred from the bus amounted to "discrimination, almost like a hate crime."
Interestingly, Maltby says she likes the leash because it fits the way she lives: "I am a pet; I generally act animal-like, and I lead a really easy life...I don't cook or clean, and I don't go anywhere without Dani. It might seem strange but it makes us both happy. It's my culture and my choice. It isn't hurting anyone."
Hearing her perspective, what do you think?
Should we live and let live, or is leading someone around on a leash over-the-top misogyny? If your girlfriend wanted to be your "pet" and walk around the streets on a chain with you, would you go for it?

Hey, if she wants to degrade herself -- more power to her. (Despite the fact that I think it is sad and a bit pathetic.)

that was pretty fucked up of the bus driver. neither of them were hurting anyone, and if the leash offends you, all you have to do is look away. i personally would never live the way she does, but at least im not so much of a baby that i cant live with people who do.

I don't see it as a probem. This a lifestyle choice and she isn't forced into. Truth is I know quite a few couples that are into that lifestyle. Leashes, collars and whatnot. In fact there is a specialized dating service for people who love that lifestyle.

I have nothing against how other people choose to live their own lives. However, I don't this display is appropriate in front of children. How do you explain this behavior to a child. It's not the norm, and it should be kept behind closed doors. If this lifestyle works for them, then be it. As long as it doesn't affect other people's lives.

We allow people to wear wedding bands and make no note of them as being strange. Those are simple little collars with no leashes, so if this woman feels that she must define her attachment with a grand showing then who is to say that it is wrong?

Not my thing. But they aren't hurting themselves or anyone else. So be it.

I can see both sides of this....coming from a bdsm background (I'm a Domme), I don't see anything wrong with her desire to live as she chooses, however I don't want to have to explain to my young children why the lady on the bus is wearing a leash. When they're older, fine, I'll explain away, but they are too young for the explanation currently and I'd prefer not to have to lie to my kids because they've seen something that probably ought to be kept to adult-only settings.
While the bus driver was totally, completely and utterly out of line with what was said, I think that the pet in question should keep the sensibilities of others (especially when children are present) in mind when going out in public.

As someone who is into BDSM (For those of you not in the scene it stands for Bondage & Discipline, Dominance & Submission, and Sadism & Masochism) I fail to see the problem! I have from time to time led folks around on leashes, all of whom consented, all of whom wanted it, and NONE of whom complained. My lifestyle isn’t for everyone, I will NEVER say it is, but it is MY choice and the choice of others.
As I’ve said many times before, I have never hurt anyone that didn’t want to be hurt...so where is the problem?

Let the lady do what she wishes.
Ya'll know ya'll would be equally mad if it had been a gay couple holding hands and they were denied.

LOL! I'm female and I would not want to be lead around on a leash and I would not want to lead anyone around with a leash, either. Anyone can do what they want as long as they are not hurting anybody or themselves.

as long as they're not hurting anyone, and she is consenting to it then i see nothing wrong with it. they are adults capable of making their own decisions, let them be it seems to make them happy.
