A goth woman who likes to be led around on a leash by her fiancé says she was "victimized" by a bus driver who wouldn't let them board. He reportedly chastised her, yelling, "We don't let freaks and dogs like you on." Dani Graves and Tasha Maltby (left) have complained to authorities in the British town of Dewsbury, saying that their being barred from the bus amounted to "discrimination, almost like a hate crime."
Interestingly, Maltby says she likes the leash because it fits the way she lives: "I am a pet; I generally act animal-like, and I lead a really easy life...I don't cook or clean, and I don't go anywhere without Dani. It might seem strange but it makes us both happy. It's my culture and my choice. It isn't hurting anyone."
Hearing her perspective, what do you think?
Should we live and let live, or is leading someone around on a leash over-the-top misogyny? If your girlfriend wanted to be your "pet" and walk around the streets on a chain with you, would you go for it?

I say let her live like an animal. But if the bus or other businesses don't allow animals, then she has to deal with it. Also, an animal cannot bring a court action so I guess she's SOL. Either she's a person or an animal, she needs to decide which one. She cannot be both as it suits her. If I was her father I'd shoot the A-hole holding the lease.

Life is a matter of choices. Her choices are not my choices but I eat pork while arabs do not and I don't eat sushi while others do. If in fact she is voluntary and isn't abused I think they should be allowed to live as they choose without oversight.

A piece of string or chain or cord is just a piece of string or chain or cord BIG DEAL! I like different people whatever or how ever they are nothing freaky about it. Boredom sucks and of course is blah. When people do what they want they have a comfort smile about them. THAT is a decent content citizen. The NASTY attacking NEGATIVE driver should be fired and is a SH*TTY citizen.

They need to understand that discrimination is not based in behavioral choices, but in items that cannot be changed, i.e. disabilities, race, sexual orientation, etc. It is not discriminatory to ask people follow certain mores, like wearing shoes in a restaurant or removing hats in a church.

My husband and i are in the BDSM lifestyle. At all bike events that we go to i am lead by a leash and my collar. People love it and many have taken our picture. We dont do it in other public forums because of the negative judgemental people. We have always said "To each their own". We are adults and hurting no one. Just like this couple. The bus driver was way out of line, but i can see it happening.
Many people dont realize how large the BDSM community is in Europe. It is large in the U.S. as well but we have to hide it.
Its a choice that we all make. 20 years ago being gay was taboo, and today its ok.
Maybe someday the BDSM lifestylers will be accepted as well.

This is pathetic and the people that think this is acceptable behavior are lost souls. They are most definetly suffeirng from low self esteem and self worth and are there fore easily manipulated by someone that knows this weakness and preys on it. Sick people sick world I agree with the bus driver.

There is nothing new here. I saw quite a lot of this at the Derby in the late 70's. People have always done this- what is the big deal?

Good for them. They should be allowed to live how they want without being discriminated against. Their kind of fetish is not really that uncommon, they are just more open about it. Good for them! She is not "degrading" herself, this is what makes them both happy & fulfilled. Don't judge.

It is fine with me if she wants to be a pet, or a dog. But in all respect, the bus driver was expecting a four legged domestic pet, so get on fours, no one will protest! Arf Arf
