Your town has a serious problem, and we'd like to help -- but the first step is admitting it. A new Men's Health study lists the most dangerously drunk cities in America.
You might argue that there are good reasons why your town has a high percentage of DUI arrests and liver disease, including great bars and brilliant mixologists.
But you'd be in complete denial.
So we present you the list of the Top 10 Dangerously Drunk Cities and our thoughts on why each made the list. Now it's up to you to get your entire city into the basement of a nearby church for the next AA meeting.

A note to Cathy and Mad Man: Yes I read the article and there are so many factors not accounted for in the compilation of the article (and if there was an attempt at humor it was a best a poor attempt) that NO SCIENTIFIC CREDIBILITY could be even implied. So before you chide anyone for their remarks regarding the article: sit down, drink up, and call Denny and find out what he's smoking and/or drinking.

I'm suprised Dallas isn't on the list. They've taken the art of fine dining and drinking to a new level. www.workingindallas.com

Whoever made up this list must be drunk or on drugs. Everyone in the US knows that New Orleans is the drunkest city. Everyone drinks; the mayor stays stoned so he has an excuse for his ineffectiveness. The police stay drunk so they don't have to fight the horrendous crime in the city. Where else can you go to a drive-thru and get a drink, and NOT have to worry about getting caught drinking and driving.

I don't know if this article was just a joke, but I can't believe New Orleans didn't make the list. I spent some time there on business a while back. It's a great city, but on one Friday night a local radio disc jockey warned everyone on the road to be careful. In his words, " 50% of the drivers have been drinking, and the other 50% ARE drinking"! It was like bumping cars out out on Route 10! That was when Bourbon Street had walk-up windows at their Bars, and liquor stores had drive-up windows. I don't know if that is still true.

of course country people drink a lot, city people are too civilized and well educated to be such disgrace, unlike the hillbilies. In te country they go to church every day, and that is the excuse to do all drunk play, that is drugs, sex, crime, solicitacion, money laundry, molestation of minors, have another family, and all this behind doors, and the spouse doesn't know through out his or her life. And able to hide it away too.Look at Texas, they have money, but are ignorant republican drunks

I agree with TDRRON. What are the so called researchers thinking. Come on- I'm from Baltimore- heroin & drug city of USA. Bar & liquor store on every corner. Addicts flee Balto & travel to Philly by the bus loads in search of treatment for HELLO alcohol & heroin addiction. Why isn't Philly & New Orleans on the list.Do your homework. No one believes your list!!!!Alcohol is a drug-#1 in USA & YES IT"S LEGAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Carlos, you need to take a look at what you wrote before you call any names. People that live in a small town or in the country are not hillbillys. Many well educated people chose to live in a small town or in the country because it is much more peaceful, slow paced, and has much less of all the evils you listed, drugs, money laundering, crime, child molestation, solicataton, live a secret life with more than one family. I have news for you, small towns have many well educated people, doctors, lawyers, journalists, educators, and lay people who are capable of composing a much more sensible and grammatically correct letter, or blog than you managed to do. People drink everywhere, bad things happen everywhere, and there are men that lie everywhere. I have a real shocker for you, in the country, or in small towns, you can not hide anything. Everyone knows everyone. If there is another family, it is extended family, aunts, uncles, inlaws close family friends that need a helping hand. This is not done in secret, many live in the same house, or just help with financial support, transportation and other needs. If you want to find crime, drugs and solicitation, look to your educated, city people. It is a well know fact that 90% of all crime is commited by 1% of the population. Last but not LEAST, DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS!!!!!!! Yes there are rich republicans in Texas, there are also rich democrats, poor republicans, poor democrats, and yes a few people that are less educated, none as ignorant as you. Texas also has if not the largest, one of the largest military populations in the nation. These people live their lifes, and oftern give their lives to serve their country, keep it free so even people as bigoted as you have a right to free speech,to worship as they please, and oh yes, determine if alcohol will be sold in their county. Please think before you speak, sober up and learn a little about what you are talking about before you spout off wild ranting generalizations and mischaracterizations about other people, states, religions. Maybe you should try to get into politics. With your wild generalzations and mistruths, you would fit in perfectly.

To the person that commented and said Lubbock is dry...yeah the city is but we still have bars within the city limits. Have you ever heard of the depot district? Tons of bars, it's Lubbock's version of 6th street. The only thing by being dry is we can't buy liquor at grocery stores or convenience stores within the city limits....If you go out in the county to the strip you can purchase these items...so yeah I can see Lubbock being ranked up high from our depot....

For those of you complaining that 1)AOL made up this list, and 2)There are no facts to back it up, please re-read the first paragraph. The list is from Men's Health, and they used the following criteria:
"We looked at annual death rates due to alcoholic liver disease, as well as who's headed there by regularly downing five or more drinks in a sitting (CDC). Next, we factored in drunk-driving arrests (FBI) and the percentage of fatal accidents involving intoxicated motorists (U.S. Department of Transportation). "
