(Our happy hour fact to amaze your drinking buddies with.)According to the FDA, a chocolate bar may naturally contain pieces of insect and rodent hair. How much? Well, they don't consider it "adulterated" unless there's 60 or more insect fragments found in a 100-gram sample. (That leaves quite a bit of legal room for crunchy insect bits.)
And when it comes to rodent filth, the level of concern, or "action level," is 1 or more rodent hairs per 100 grams (which may be of concern to you).
Look on the bright side, a little extra protein never hurt anybody.
Interestingly enough, chocolate empire Hershey's announced its second price increase in under a year today, due to rising costs and high gas prices.
But now that you know what's in it, will you eat it that often?
