Since Superman could not be found at the Hall of Justice, the U.S. Department of Defense was forced to shoot down a doomed satellite that threatened to crash into the Earth and release a cloud of toxic fuel. The tactical missile was fired around 10:26 p.m. Eastern Time on February 20 from the USS Lake Erie, at a cost of around $50 million. The DoD has not yet confirmed that the fuel tank itself was destroyed in the resulting explosion. But by releasing this video, they have confirmed that it looked really cool.

Just in case you need a few more stats to explain what you're looking at: The missile hit the satellite at 17,000 mph, 130 miles above the Pacific Ocean.
