When it comes to St. Patty's Day, there are some who go all corned-beef-and-cabbage, and others who hunt down green beer, snowballs and bagels. We definitely fall into the latter camp. Test your knowledge of the oddest pastimes that somehow got wrapped up with
kicking the snakes out of Ireland.

Actually I WAS drunk when I did this test.
You were right. I love it when you wake up, take a shower, come to work, and then realize you're still tanked.

Saint Patrick's Day is a holy day in Ireland, not a day for drunken celebrations. In Ireland, people actually go to Mass on March 17.

St. Patricks day is just an excuse for people to get drunk.
BTW what's with people naming others Saints? There's nothing biblical supporting that.

First of all there is no such thing as St. Patty's Day spelled with a T -- its St. Paddy's Day or St. Patrick's Day.
People would laugh at this spelling in Ireland and all the mardi gras rubbish that happens in America. All those beads and leprechauns look weird to a real Irish person, but we do love a good sing song and a few pints of Guinness.

AOL's portrayal of Irish People on St. PATRICK's day is as much of an insult to REAL Irish person as people dressing up like a black man and eating fried chicken, wasted on Martin Luther King.

The British used the same tactics used here by AOL to justify the massacre and attempted genocide of the Irish race. Some might say lighten up man but if your back ground and that of your entire race is not buried in 800 years of bloodshed you can never understand.
Verifiable records i.e., quotations of George
Washington and Washington's adopted son Parke Custis.
"The English government as Parliamentary
records and other documents all clearly
demonstrated that the participation and contribution
of Ireland and the Irish (who comprised one-half of
Washingtons army) during the American
Revolution were indispensable to America gaining
her independence."

St. Patrick's day, although now celebrating a religious man, was originally the Pagan celebration of the Spring equinox and the return of the Sun God.

It's either St. Patrick's Day or even St. Pat's Day is okay, but St. Patty, am I wrong but isn't Patty a female name or something you put on hamburger bun???

I have been a South Boston resident all of my life, over 40 yrs.
Known here as "Southie".
The last thing we Irish would do on St. Patrick's Day is drink green beer, wear orange or not go to Church in the morning.
Among many other myths.
.
Also the people of Boston can not stand the city being refered to as "Beantown". It's Boston, period.

I don't know whether AOL is completely ignorant about Saint Patrick's Day or is so blatantly anti Irish that it doesn't care . St. Patrick's day is a religious and cultural celebration and your green beer and green people are insulting.

The quiz was "unavailable" but judging from the comments it was just another cultural insult as is St. Patrick's day when celebrated by a bunch of drunks claiming they are Irish for the day. It isn't even a pagan spring time celebration - that's easter or even groundhog's day or the solstice, but the middle of march? Not a chance - too busy readying the fields for the planting.

Ok I took the quiz. Not sure what it had to do with St. Patrick. Just a bunch of tourist board nonsense from assorted parts of the world. Kind of embarassing for the places included I would say.

REAL Irish people do NOT celebrate the way Americans do. This was just an excuse for the Americans to have a Parade and party and is nothing more.
You would think that AOL would be more cognizant in respecting the heritage of others and not just show a bunch of people partying and getting drunk.
Just goes to show you how much we here in America value the traditions of others. Only in the United States would they commercialize Christmas, New Years, Halloween, Easter and any other religious day you can think of.
