Microsoft billionaire Bill Gates is no longer the world's richest man, according to the latest Forbes poll of the ultra-wealthy.Despite being worth around $58 billion, Gates has now slipped to third in the annual rankings. He's been overtaken by businessman and investor Warren Buffett, whose wealth stands at $62 billion, and self-made Mexican telecom mogul Carlos Slim Helú, who is worth $60 billion.
Don't feel too sorry for Gates, though. According to Forbes, he would still have topped the rankings if Microsoft had not made an unsolicited offer for Yahoo! earlier this year (a move that sent the Microsoft stock down). And let's face it, $58 billion isn't exactly pocket change.
Only two years ago, half of the world's 20 richest people were from the United States. Now just four Americans make the cut. In their place, seven Russian billionaires and four from India appear on the list.

I find it amazing with the devaluation of the U.S. Dollar that we even still have 4 in the top 20. That's quite an impressive wealth considering the beating the dollar has taken. I guess that many of the world's richest outside the U.S. were also holding most of their wealth in U.S. dollars.
