Peep of Faith -- The Most Heavenly Easter Candy Dioramas
Peeps have used their mind-numbing cuteness to take over the Internet with over 200 websites, as well as two Peeps diorama photo contests hosted by the Seattle Times and the Washington Post. They have been the best-selling, non-chocolate Easter candy for a decade, and the amount of Peeps that will be eaten this year, if lined up, would circle the globe.
Behold -- the chameleon power of Peep that makes Meryl Streep look like an amateur.

And if you're jonesing for crafty uses for peeps (and who isn't?), Real Simple has plenty. (Alright, forward the link to your lady.)

Hey, how come the Jesus stuff? I'm not thinking it's funny. I didn't see a peeps dressed like Mohammed or Buddah. I might be 55 years OLD but we did respect Jesus and Easter, why heck we respected the police, our schooltechers and the military too. We even respected the right of another person to own and operate a car without taking it away from them during a carjacking. Oh to be old and KNOW.

Thats all well and good except Easter is not a christian holiday, it's a pagan holiday celebrating spring and fertility (hence all the bunnies and chickies) that was hijacked by the christian church when they converted pagans to christianity. The people changed religion but didn't want to give up their festivals like Yule (christmas) and Easter so they just changed what they were celebrating

Matt Severyn, the stupidity of your comment boggles my mind, especially because you are twice my age.
"Hey, how come the Jesus stuff? I'm not thinking it's funny. I didn't see a peeps dressed like Mohammed or Buddah"
Maybe because it's almost easter, or maybe even because THE NAME OF THE FREAKIN ARTICLE IS "Peep of Faith: The Most Heavenly Easter Candy Dioramas"
"We even respected the right of another person to own and operate a car without taking it away from them during a carjacking."
You are absolutely right, 50 years ago there was no such thing as crime. ( Thats a joke by the way, since you seem to be missing the point of everything.)
"Oh to be old and KNOW."
You even forgot to finish your sentence old man, you forgot to add NOTHING to the end of that one.

Ok, the reason there is Jesus stuff and not Muhammad or Budda? IT IS EASTER. The deal with Peeps is that they are associated with a CHRISTIAN holiday. Thus, when people play with them, they make Easter related things.

Mr. Severyn, you are woefully ignorant. First of all, you shouldn't assume things about people, not only did you sound like you were rambling a bit, but as if there weren't crimes 50 years ago...please! Also, you act like all 50 yr. olds are capable of having impressive knowledge of the world around them...puh-lease.
Anyway I can probably attest that Mohammad is not in the uhh.."Peep Show" =] for several valid reasons.
1) (Obvious, but) Muslims don't celebrate the holiday of Easter. They have their own holidays that we don't celebrate.
2) Muslims don't eat Peeps because they are made of marshmallow, and therefore not Halaal (kosher).
3) Any images of the prophet Mohammad are sinful and banned from the religion through the Shari'a - the Islamic code of laws. Seriously where were you when the Teddy Bear Named Mohammad drama came up a few months ago? A woman was whipped for that!
I can't really speak for any Buddhists, but I'm pretty sure Buddhists don't celebrate Easter either...at least not religiously. And why? Because while Easter may have pagan backgrounds, it is a Christian holiday. And Christian includes Christ. AKA Jesus Christ. Not Mohammad, or Buddha. Besides, apparently there are many Buddhas. When these two religions celebrate holidays, they don't include Jesus, and that doesn't bother me.

In response to "zweet"'s rant, it would appear that Mr Severyn's comment regarding respect by the over-50 population is very accurate. I am 52 and it seems that our parent's generation were more in tuned with how a kid will turn out as an adult instead of how subsequent generations are more concerned with immediate gratification, or in other words, pampering, coddling, and spoiling. A good example of that is "zweet"'s calling Mr Serveryn an "old man", which is common of today's youth....disrepecting your elders. Everyone has a right to their own opinion, and to attack a person on a personal level instead of their views on a subject is being disrespectful. The same would apply to "vickitot" for calling Mr Severyn "woefully ignorant". Another example of disrespect. So regardless of his brief comment on Jesus, Mr Severyn's comment about respect was proven by these two examples. Respect is a two way street...give it and you will receive it in return.

Are you all referring to the "50 years ago" when Blacks were denied employment, or worse, being lynched, gays where beaten to death, women weren't allowed to do certain jobs, people were imprisoned for "rumored" associations with communism, and the American-Japanese were unlawfully thrown into "internment" camps?
Yeah, there was a lot more respect back then...I'll grant you that...

Hey, Matt, take a chill pill. I'm YOUR "elder, at 58, so "respect this":
It's SATIRE, man. Anything is grist for the satire mill. Given the season, it's Easter. And by the way, not everyone considers Jesus to be a holy man. Some of us are not even convinced he existed as a historical figure, and consider him more mythical, like Cupid, or unicorns. Put wings or a horn on a Peeps. It won't bother me.
As for "the good old days" of respect--come now! Religion has always been a target for lampooning.
and why not?
Here is the "truth" right from the horse's mouth:
"To assert that the earth revolves around the sun is as erroneous as to claim that Jesus was not born of a virgin."
[Cardinal Bellarmine, 1615, during the trial of Galileo]
Can you "respect" THAT?

People please....calm down...yes, it is just about Easter candy but you have to admit that Matt was right on so many levels. I'm 55 & I remember when kids could go Trick or Treating (another pagan tradition) for blocks & blocks & not have to have their goodies x-rayed before they ate it. Parents took the responsibility of raising their children & teaching them right from wrong instead of expecting teachers, police officers & the courts to do it for them. Kids didn't have to be scanned for weapons when they walked into a school building even though every boy from age 7 up carried a pocket knife with never a thought to use it on one another. I hate that my grandchildren can't play in the yard without supervision due to the fear of being approached by the known sexual predator who lives in the next block. The old days weren't perfect but life was a lot easier then. It scares me to think that one day my grandchildren may look back on these times & think "those were the good old days". We're going to hell in a hand basket........
