A Dutch wine-maker has insured his nose for $8 million after hearing about a man who lost his sense of smell in a car accident. The man, Ilja Gort, says that his nose is crucial for producing wine at his Chateau de la Garde vineyard in Bordeaux, France.
The policy, put together by Lloyd's of London, covers Gort if he loses either his sense of smell or the nose itself. It's a bold move, even beating Tom Jones and his precious chest hair insurance.
But there are strings attached. He's now banned from driving a motorcycle, breathing fire or working as a knife-thrower's assistant.
Lloyd's of London has also restricted Gort to high-quality barbers for the purposes of grooming his beard, in case a less-skilled barber slips and cuts his nose with a razor.
Whether Gort has also insured that rockin' beret is currently unknown.
