Noticed a lot of kilts and bagpipes around lately? That's probably because it's national Tartan Week. A celebration of all things Scottish, the festival centers on Sunday, April 6, which is the 688th anniversary of Scottish independence.

It might not have quite the cache of St. Patrick's Day , yet, but the Scots have a fine history when it comes to whiskey and other assorted alcohols, so we think Tartan Day is just as good an excuse to get blind drunk and sing songs about the "Auld Country" as the Irish equivalent.

Most important, it's also a great excuse to celebrate the more aesthetic achievements of the Scots people -- namely their hottest women. Och-eye the noo!
