Playboy mogul Hugh Hefner, who celebrated his 82nd birthday over the weekend, started the iconic magazine after he was denied a $5 raise from Esquire.Working as a copywriter in 1952, Hefner was denied the raise and left Esquire to work at Children's Activities. Then in 1953, he sold his furniture and raised $8,000 (including $1,000 from his mother) to start Playboy.
Now 82, Hefner lives with his three girlfriends, Holly Madison, Bridget Marquardt and Kendra Wilkinson. His life is, reportedly, "sweeter than anyone can imagine."
And why not? From all of us at Asylum: Happy Birthday Hef!
After the jump, pictures from Hef's birthday party at the Palms in Vegas (at the Playboy Club, naturally) and shots from the recent Playboy golf shoot-out.

Quantity is still there, but quality is going down. Playboy girls used to be the girl next door. Now, the look is stale and the chicks are skank. Yeah, I'd take 'em, but I have no standards.
