There are few injuries as effective as a gunshot between the eyes to ensure that you'll meet your maker. But one Florida woman found out this week that you can take a round from a .44 to the forehead and stay conscious to tell the tale to ER doctors.

Marie, who won't give her last name for fear of retaliation, was driving with her boyfriend and daughter late Saturday night when two cars came up alongside them and started an altercation that ended with a man in one of the cars firing three shots. One of the bullets hit Marie smack in between the eyes.

But amazingly, instead of piercing her skull, the bullet broke into three fragments, which ran under her skin and exited through wounds in her cheek and near her ear. Marie said she didn't even know she was hit at first, but then saw blood pouring from her head.

"I thought I was gonna, was gonna die, but I stayed conscious," she is quoted as saying.

Questions raised: Why does weird stuff always seem to take place in Florida?
