A $2,600 Bamboo Bike to Save the Planet

Just in time for Earth Day -- get a tandem bike for you and your girl. What's so green about it? It's made from bamboo.

Calfee Design has been making bamboo frames for road bikes and mountain bikes. They were originally designed for villagers in Ghana, who rely on bicycles to get around (bamboo grows all over the country).

It's light and strong (and will break down naturally after you bust the frame and eat it). To complete the green design, the bike joints are wrapped with hemp fiber.

The mountain bike frame is $2,600, and the tandem will be a bit pricier.
