Government is all about image. Where would Obama be without his "Yes We Can" buttons? Who would pay their taxes if the IRS didn't have that "evil eagle" logo? This is why we're not entirely surprised that the UK's Office of Government Commerce would want to re-brand itself.
But the OGC should probably have previewed what their new logo looked like when rotated clockwise by 90 degrees...a snowman spanking his carrot.
The OGC realized their mistake when mouse pads and pens were printed, but they intend to roll out the design anyway:
"It is true that it caused a few titters among some staff," said a government spokesperson. "But on consideration we concluded that the effect was generic to the particular combination of the letters 'OGC' -- and is not inappropriate to an organization that's looking to have a firm grip on government spending!"
And we thought the British were supposed to be reserved.

There are so many cases like this! Some are even worst, because you can see something is wrong without even rotating the logo... here you can see some examples: http://www.uglydoggy.com/2008/02/bad-designs-clueless-clients.html
