(Our happy hour fact to amaze your drinking buddies with.)

A plan has been proposed to power Glasgow with lily-shaped solar panels that would float in the River Clyde, the Scottish city's main waterway.

Said to be "inspired by nature," the discs would be tethered to the riverbed and motorized to follow the course of the sun throughout the day.

City council members are currently deciding whether to go forth with the award-winning proposal, which was created by the locally based ZM Architecture firm.

It's unclear if the lily pads would be a pleasant perch for frogs or if the discs would fry the unwitting amphibians. Either way, tadpoles beware.
