If you were driving a car conveying your child and a case of beer, and only had one extra seat belt, which would you choose to buckle up?Wait, don't answer yet. An Australian driver was recently fined $750 for leaving a 5-year-old boy unrestrained while transporting a case of beer buckled in a seat belt.
The boy was reportedly seated on the floor and the 30-can carton was strapped in between two adults.
The constable who pulled the driver over in the central Australian town of Alice Springs said he was "shocked and appalled" by the finding, and that the incident was the first time he'd seen beer take priority over a child. (Pretty amazing given that he works in Australia.)
As much as we like beer, get the kid buckled up. It would be one thing if they were bottles, but cans?

First of all to all those who think it's ok for a child not to have a seat belt on you are totally out of your minds, the law was put into action to protect your childs life not to piss you off.And if your one of those people who just doesnt care about your children then you should give them to someone who will care about them.geewiz when has a case of beer become more inportant than a child. That parent is a total ass an should be charged we child endangerment along with the fine the cops gave them and be made to take parenting classes.

Hey Nic,
The best part is whether you like it or not, the government will take your kid away if you do crap like this idiot in Australia. So whether you think it is anybody else's business it doesn't matter because WE have made it OUR business.

Nic, any idiot can father a child, but it takes a man to be a father. Nic, I think your village is looking for you.

Okay duh...
MIKE: this story is about an incident in Australia so your "anchor welfare baby" is totally off the mark.
NIC: Please go ahead and protect your right to be stupid, we'll be happy to hand your widow a Darwin Award.
BEA: I really think you'ld be happier with a lesbian relationship or maybe something mechanical.
As for the guy in this story, The real Homer Simpson has finally been found...

Man, back in the 70s we would ride around in the back of my dad's truck or in the back of my mom's station wagon. Kids can't do that now. Some of these safety concerns are out of control. How about have safer drivers?

Throughout my childhood I often wore no seatbelt because they weren't common in those days, survived a horrific accident with only a missing baby tooth. If I had been wearing a lap belt only, I could have possibly suffered severe hip and spinal injuries. My instructions to drivers with lap belts who occasionally transported my daughter were that she was NOT to wear a lap belt ever. Lap belts are extremely dangerous, it is safer to use nothing at all. When I rode my motorcycle with my daughter safely on the back I would often contemplate the stupidity of seat belt laws. Yes, I always wear mine in the car, but we seem to be obsessed with safety in our cowardly nation.
