Research has found that Americans dispose of nearly 30 percent of their food, worth about $48.3 billion, each year. The corresponding report contends that enough food is produced to feed everyone on the planet, but a "staggering" amount never gets to those who need it.
The findings were part of a study by the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the International Water Management Institute (IWMI).
Be proud, American people. It really takes some ingenuity to have an obesity epidemic while not finishing your dinner.
