Only Rodney Dangerfield could get less respect as a dog. And apparently that was enough of a concept for a theatrical movie in the pre-Pixar days. Dangerfield cleaning up his act for the kiddies was harmless enough, but it was also duller than "FernGully." The image of a once great comedian flirting with a sassy talking collie is one audiences should never have been subjected to.
