A man in Wisconsin found buried treasure this week -- a rusted box filled with a wad of deteriorated bills dating back to the 1920s.34-year-old electrician Dan Deming was tearing down a 100-year-old shed on his farm recently when he uncovered the box, which included $1, $5, $10 and $20 bills. "I couldn't believe it. I started running to the house with it," Deming said. "My wife thought I broke my arm because I was just hooting and hollering."
The bills were degraded and hard to separate, so it was difficult to tell how much was there, but along with the money were some scraps of paper that had the amounts of $1,200, $300 and $200 written on them, which Deming thinks may indicate how much money was buried there.
Deming originally thought of selling the bills, but they were too mashed up to be collectible, so he's now forwarded them to the treasury department, which will sort through the bills and send him their face value.
