From Pammiemk:
Essentially, catcalling is hostile, done by men who are intimidated by women and have nothing to lose -- so why not call attention to women as objects? These men are cowards, and they don't realize how ridiculous they look. They get validation for their behavior when they do it in a group -- and they know that this embarrasses and infuriates women -- that's why they do it! I already know I am gorgeous. I don't enjoy neanderthals on the street hooting at me like a pack of monkeys.
If I get catcalled or eyed or called out, I feel threatened. Yes, I wear makeup when I go out, and yes, I wear nice clothes. But like someone else said -- it's to make MYSELF feel attractive. Even if I'm wearing a loose-fitting T-shirt and jeans, I will still get yelled at. Not only am I not interested, but it makes me uncomfortable.
