Believe it or not, we're big fans of art here at Asylum. (Mainly art made out of LEGO bricks.) But we also love art galleries, because they are a great place to take women and often serve alcohol. However, on our last couple of jaunts to the local art show, we've noticed a disturbing phenomenon. A lot of modern art is deeply, deeply unsexy. Not just weird, but explicitly damaging to the libido.
Whether it's a nude sculpture of Britney Spears in the throes of labor, or just an enormous painting of a sad, naked old man, sometimes everything that may be interesting and profound about a work takes a backseat to its scrotum-shriveling lack of sex appeal. So in the interest of letting you know what to avoid, we've collected some of the unsexiest artwork we could find.

it pisses me off when they try to blend art with pop culture. it devalues art. and the artist. and society. and pretty much everything else you want to throw in there. who gives a shit if they're "unsexy?" the media is just pissed that art continues to offer a realistic view of the human condition while the mass media wants to show only perfection.
i hate you AOL. i hate you so very very much.

It is my belief that Art is supposed to call to attention a broader view of life through the lens of the featured oa subject; that Art should touch us on a spiritual level; and that Art should inspire us to view life from the broadest and deepest perspectives possible.

Can you people find anything more disgusting than a pregnant naked woman. I bet you support abortion too. Your perception of Beauty is a truly distorted one. I guess you will end up at the lake oh no in the lake.

Maybe you should analyze your own perception of beauty. Even better, be thankful that you can decide for yourself what is beautiful just as we all have. Just out of curiousity though...what do you consider beautiful?

I like the idea that people are trying to take the "sexy" out of sex, and out of art. Art is meant to inspire thought. If you want to spank it, go buy hustler. We live in a society that would turn us all into sex addicts, shop-aholics, alcoholics, and drug addicts, all in the name of the almighty dollar. We are humans, with the capacity to use our higher though processes to our advantage, to evolve, to grow, to be artistic, and to love. When we expose ourselves to truth, we lessen the chances of being manipulated by those who would undress their mother, to sell us a pack of cigarettes. Love is love, a higher thought process. Sex is just sex, our animalistic nature exposed.

Nobody ever said art had to be in good taste.
Well, okay, somebody probably did. But whoever they were, they didn't understand art.

The sculture of Paris is really disturbing. It's obvious that the pose indicates what she was doing before she died, back arched and all. The dog was the first to discover her body. Very disturbing. Maybe I'm the one with the sick mind, it's possible.
