Of all the things you've ever dreamed of doing nude -- playing volleyball, drag racing, mowing your lawn -- rock climbing was probably not on your list. Yet a popular new craze in Britain suggests that you may want to drop more than just a harness when you're getting up the side of an open cliff.

Nude rock climbing's followers say that climbing up the side of a rock without the usual gear (like, say, pants) is a way of getting closer to nature. California-based photographer Dean Fidelman has been documenting the movement, and has compiled his nude climbing shots from the past 10 years into an upcoming calendar called Stone Nudes 2009.

"This kind of climbing is the sport at its purest, intended to inspire and celebrate the human form," said Fidelman. "Hundreds of people are now participating in a sport that captures the true essence of the climbing spirit."
