You can eat for sustenance or you can eat for pleasure. In Japan, when you order the infamous Fugu (i.e., pufferfish), you're eating for the death-defying thrill of it. If prepared incorrectly, lethally poisonous toxins from the Fugu's organs, especially the liver, ovaries and the skin can be released into your fishy dish. Because of this, only licensed chefs are permitted to prepare Fugu. Still, every year, fatalities occur from eating the puffer.
