Singer, songwriter, designer, filmmaker, producer -- you name it, M.I.A. has done it. And on top of being outrageously creative, the British beauty is also heavily involved in politics, actively working to promote peace and alleviate poverty in third-world countries.

When we consider the rarity of that mix of talents and interests, we can't help ourselves. We're all-out crushing on M.I.A., born Mathangi Arulpragasam (we really hope we got that right) in London 31 years ago today.
