On shows like "The Sopranos" and "The Wire," aging gang members often lament the younger generation's lack of respect. But in Modesto, Calif., there are still vestiges of civility in thug life -- and it turns out that being in a gang sometimes means having to say you're sorry. After beating and stabbing a man in his home, four gang members recently offered an apology, saying they had attacked the wrong person.
The assailants kicked in an unidentified 32-year-old man's door early in the morning and then proceeded to kick, punch and stab him. When the other people staying in the home came downstairs to see what was happening, the attackers realized they were beating up the wrong guy, and said they were sorry. The victim was hospitalized, but his wounds don't seem to be life-threatening.
This cautionary tale illustrates our long-standing belief that more gangs should provide their members with training in GPS and Google Maps. C'mon, gangs, it's the 21st century already.

Couldn't we just use the fact that someone is a known gang member as an excuse to execute them and save this country in billions in damage to property, health care costs (stabbing, rape, and shooting victims), and court proceedings? These people are worthless anyway. "Sorry we tried to kill you" is pure BS. All these people are are failed abortions. Sounds cruel but these morons had lazy parents, just made excuses, and use their race to point the finger of blame at other people. They won't be held responsible for anything. Using their race in order to point fingers...Really? Well, I'm not sure what A&E special you've been watching, but there isn't just one race participating in gang life. I do agree with the sorry not really meaning anything at all; however, you cannot make comments with terrible facts that do not hold-up. You know what? You're pretty ignorant. I live in Modesto. I know gang members. Some of them are mexican, some are white, some are black. Some are well educated, and some are high school drop outs. Some have families, others don't. Yeah, what they do is wrong. You say they are failed abortions and need to be executed.
First of all, what would have happened if George Washington had been aborted? How about Edison? Where would we be if Martin Luther King had been aborted? Or maybe Abraham Lincoln? What if you had been aborted?
Secondly, who are you to pass judgement on these people? You don't know what circumstances brought them into the life they now lead. It could have just as easily been you.
