The romance of Paris, the glamour of Milan, the sophistication of London, the excitement of New York. There's a lot to be said for the big four fashion weeks, but our favorite bash on the style calendar is the Mercedes-Benz Miami Swim event. While it may not have the outrageous sartorial creations or the celebrity-packed front rows of its more famous cousins, Miami Swim does have one thing to recommend it above all other fashion weeks: lots and lots of beautiful women in bikinis. Here's a selection of the outfits, and models, that caught our eye at the July 18 through 21 celebration of all things Lycra.
Miami Fashion Week
Miami Swim is a crucial date in the fashion calendar, not some frivolous celebration of sun and skin. All attempts to sexualize the catwalk shows are strongly discouraged.
This brand is named Pistol Panties. Which we like almost as much as this hot as hell '50s pin-up inspired outfit.
Some zoologists believe a zebra's stripes help make it sexually attractive to potential mates. We can see their point.
Sorry, what was that? We were distracted for a moment. Swoon.
The US bikini beach football team is hotly-tipped for Olympic gold this year.
The women's underwater lacrosse squad, not so much. (Someone get them a shoe sponsor).
There's actually some fascinating pattern work on this piece. Go on, take a closer look.
If they ever decide to revive Baywatch (and let's face it, they will), we would like to propose this as the new uniform for the titular (snigger) lifeguards.
Finally! A use for those tiresome Ed Hardy designs we can get behind.
You can keep your cheese-wire thongs and your accidental camel-toes. Big pants are sexy too!
