(Our happy hour fact to amaze your drinking buddies with.)

Scientists have developed a pair of experimental drugs that have been able to mimic the effects of exercise in lab mice.

The drugs improved the ability of cells to burn fat and retain muscle mass. Meanwhile, the mice had huge increases in physical endurance.

One of the drugs isn't that far from the market -- it's in late-stage human trials for other purposes, and researchers now think it may be able to protect people against obesity, diabetes and muscle-wasting diseases.

Considering a recent study found that most Americans are going to be fat in the future, the arrival of this wonder pill couldn't come at a better time. Then again, people will still have the option to eat right and get their asses off the couch every once in a while, as crazy as that may sound.
