Maybe Matthew Osing smelled trouble coming, but he's not going to get a whiff of anything else for a while.

A recent alcohol-fueled argument with his friend Donroy Merrival degenerated into an all-out brawl, leading Osing to smack his friend with a shovel. Merrival responded by biting Osing's nose off, as well as part of his lip. Merrival was charged with willful injury, but police say that Osing might also be charged for his role in the fight.

Osing attempted to explain: "He's a heavy drinker and sometimes when he drinks he changes and gets real nasty ... He jumped up and grabbed me by my face and grabbed my nose and bit it off."

The nose wasn't recovered, and Merrival has told police that he doesn't think he swallowed it. "I don't know if he swallowed it or if my dogs might have eaten it, I don't know," Osing said.
