Beach Volleyball Pics -- The Most Egregious Sports Coverage

Beach volleyball coverage has always been a bit titillating, but with the Olympics just around the corner, some news outlets are using them as an excuse to dress up old-fashioned T&A in a flimsy frock of supposed sports coverage.

Case in point: NBCOlympics.com's feature on the hand signals of beach volleyball. Despite being titled "Cracking the Code," the article offers no actual information on the meanings of the various beach volleyball signals, instead featuring photo after zoomed-in photo of the shapely derrieres of the female volleyball players. Of course, it's not all NBC's fault. Part of the blame lies on the photographers who snap these professional sporting events in the first place.

As occasional smut-peddlers, we felt at liberty to collect some of the most egregious examples of beach volleyball porn in one gallery, without even attempting to relate it to anything newsworthy. This way you can enjoy your gratuitous semi-nudity the honest way.

the hand signals (1, 2, 4, etc) mean where the setter's going to set the ball for the hitter to hit. a 2 is a high set to the middle, a 1 is a fast set to the middle, a 4 is a high set to left front, a C or 5 is a high set to right front, a 3 is a fast set to right front. the team usually has their own signals for back row hitting

yeah...if it was a setter playing indoors...in beach volleyball she is calling what is is going to block...1 is line and 2 is angle for each player. Example 2 and 2 means she is blocking both players angle or 1 and 2 means she is blocking the player on the left side (looking at) line and the player on the right side (looking at) she is blocking angle.

What do they expect when they play practically naked? Sure - they are playing "beach" volleyball, but when it's elevated to the Olympic level, you'd think they'd at least cover their butts. I'm sure they could move as easily in tank suits or shorts. It's not like they're truly just hanging out at the beach for fun in the sun.

Do you think women pick their own uniforms? They were given 2 choices, these bikinis or (still skin-tight, still revealing) one-piece suits which are even more uncomfortable to play in. Meanwhile the men are playing in baggy shorts and tee-shirts. Don't blame the women for this; it isn't their faults.
