How many cheerleaders can you fit into an elevator? At the University of Texas, that number would be 25. We know that because 26 teens attending cheerleading camp at the university broke the Jester Residence Hall elevator by attempting to ride the lift all at once.
The stunt to see how many 14- to 17-year-old cheerleaders would fit started with the elevator taking the 26 girls down several floors. When the door wouldn't open, several of the girls panicked, before wiggling out their cell phones to call for help.
It took a repairman almost half an hour to pry the doors open, and police and firefighters also responded. One girl was taken to the hospital, while two others received medical treatment on the scene.
We just hope these ladies learn their lesson, before they're involved in a real cheerleader scandal like the ones below.
A History of Cheerleading Scandals
The ASU Scandal When photos of these six Arizona State University cheerleaders in their underwear surfaced in May, Arizona State University cut their entire cheerleading program.

The Indiana U Scandal Nude photos of this Indiana University cheerleader were either stolen from her hard drive, or posted online by an ex-boyfriend, depending in whose story you believe. According to the girl's mother, she was consequently harassed so much that she had to leave Indiana for California.

The OCC Dancers ScandalThe Orange Coast College dancers, after nine consecutive championships, were shamed by released pictures showing nipple piercings, girl-girl kissing and nudity.

The Sacramento Kings Dancers Scandal After a handful of racy photographs of the Sacramento Kings dancers drinking alcohol and posing in G-strings surfaced on the Internet in February, Kings officials said the women "do not adhere to the principles and values of the Sacramento Kings organization."

The Washington Wizards Scandal Perhaps the tamest of all, the Wizards cheerleaders were photographed drinking to the point of passing out and mooning one another in a limo.

Only cheerleaders would try and fit 25 people into an elevator and not expect it to get stuck.
All I have to say is, "wooooowwww..."

At Embassy Suites, where I used to work as a bellman, a similar incident like this was waiting to happen. 3 charter buses full of Little League Canadian hockey players staying at hour hotel (approx 70-80 of them between the ages of 5 - 9 years old, some older) would squeeze into the elevators at that hotel! Talk about being cramped in the elevators like sardines! My co-worker and I told some of them to get out and to take the stairs because that is a very dangerous situation, especially when they overload the elevator weight limits! Throw in 1 or 2 adults with a bell cart full of luggage in the elevator cab in the mix, and you've got a recipe for disaster! They also play around with the elevator like it's a toy (pushing buttons for all floors; it was truly annoying!)

Teenagers, Where is the shaperone? Kids this days don't think about the consequences of their actions, they just want to be funny. I hope they learned from this one.

For the record, they were high school cheerleaders attending some kind of camp, not University of Texas students. I have to agree with Louis, though, aggies would have been funnier, since their cheerleaders ( or as they call them, "yell leaders" ) are all GUYS, no girls allowed. Weird, huh?

no not weird different. and as a cheerleader and a future aggie i say that being a cheerleader dose not make you "dumb" in any way, it takes hard work and is very difficult. Most people could not pull halv the stuff we do. and just fyi being an aggie also does not make you stupid. Many very intellegent people have attended Texas A&M university. so honestly cheerleaders stuck in an elevator not that dumb or any funnier if they were aggies.

Hey Kay... I was a cheerleader and have many friends that are cheerleaders so I'm not picking on you for that.. but if you're going to say cheerleaders aren't dumb.. you should learn how to spell and use correct grammar =) For example... it's half not halv..and you didn't even spell the word you used incorrectly right... halve...have a nice night!
