Thanks to our friends at CO-ED, we recently learned that Red Bull is now of age. Finally, the energy drink is able to get into bars without a fake ID and mix freely with Mr. Jägermeister.Rather than celebrating by getting supremely jacked on Red Bull and booze like you usually do, we propose using this uber-caffeinated beverage to marinate some meat. Seriously.
We tracked down a great Red Bull steak recipe in David Joachim's book "A Man, a Can, a Plan: 50 Great Meals Even You Can Make." And besides being really simple, these steaks won't make you nearly as dangerous to yourself and others as a jäger bomb.
What you'll need:
1 8-oz can of Red Bull Energy Drink
4 boneless strip steaks
1 10-oz can of beef gravy
1 4-oz can of sliced mushrooms
steak seasoning
Learn how to prep your Red Bull steak after the jump.
How to make it:
In a big ziplock bag, mix the Red Bull and 1 tbsp. of steak seasoning. Drop in the steaks, seal the bag and refrigerate for two to eight hours. Fire up your grill to medium-high, or preheat the broiler. De-bag the steaks and scatter 1 1/2 tbsp. of seasoning. Discard the marinade.
Grill or broil the steak four inches from the heat for four to six minutes per side for medium-rare (145 degrees on an instant-read thermometer). In a microwave-safe bowl, mix the gravy, mushrooms and the remaining 1/2 tbsp. seasoning. Nuke on high for two minutes, or until hot, stopping to stir once or twice.
At this point, your Red Bull steak will be ready to serve.
