Thawed Sasquatch Corpse Is (Surprise, Surprise) Not Real

As much as we wanted to believe, the story we reported last week about a group who claimed to have found a Bigfoot corpse is, as most expected, a hoax.

Matthew Whitton and Rick Dyer acknowledged online that the purported Bigfoot carcass is actually a gorilla suit made of rubber, and a Stanford University anthropologist, Richard Klein, who had been named as a participant in the project, has denied any involvement.

Whitton and Dyer set up a press conference to announce that they had discovered the body of the mythological creature in June. But as the specimen was melted, it became clear that this was no Bigfoot. "A break appeared up near the feet area," said Steve Kulls, who maintains the Squatchdetective Web site. "As the team and I began examining this area near the feet, I observed the foot which looked unnatural, reached in and confirmed it was a rubber foot."

So it looks like we'll have to keep waiting for Bigfoot. If you've had any sightings, let us know -- the Asylum team promises a thoroughly half-assed and slipshod investigation into any and all claims.
