We've all been to parties that start off as small gatherings and turn into epic bacchanals, creating memories to embarrass for a lifetime.A recent shindig in this vein went down in the small U.K. town of Lostwithiel. In fact, the party quickly devolved into such chaos that the parents of party host Holly Herdman (pictured here) had to take out an ad in the local newspaper to apologize.
Holly, 16, claims she only wanted to have a small get-together, and didn't realize that announcing it on her social networking page would attract riffraff. As it was, a gang of 30 drunken party crashers showed up and wreaked havoc throughout the neighborhood -- smashing windows, scratching cars, fighting and breaking bottles.
Following the incident, Holly's mother spoke with the local Cornish Guardian and said: "I want to take this opportunity to apologize for any upset caused. We were really shocked to hear what happened and are so sorry to everyone on the street affected by this."
Question Raised: What would be a fitting punishment for this party girl?

I think she should get a job and pay for everything that was destroyed!

Just because you invite people to your party does not remove the guests responsibility to act like adults. They are the ones that broke the law, they should pay. Not the girl.

Just becuase someone shows up to your party does not remove the guests responsibility to act like adults and be held liable for their actions. Go after the trouble makers, not the girl.

I'll have to dissagree. If she had wanted a "small get together" why did she post the party on the internet. I mean really. She had to have placed date information and it's not that hard to get location information anymore. So she's partially to blame here. Not entirley but partially. I will agree that the others do bear the brunt of the resonsibilty.

Come on now. Do you NOT realize that this is crazy enough to get posted as news? That's what people use those sites for--to inform friends about what's going on with them. Things like PARTIES. And if someone uninvited shows up, it's generally not a big hairy deal. These people crashed HER party and then went on to mess with other people. There's just no way that it's her fault. Why should she be penalized for the actions of others?
