As Tim Burton so eloquently depicted in "Pee Wee's Big Adventure," getting your bike stolen can be a heartbreaking, soul-crushing experience.

So perhaps it's not an overstatement to say the world is a happier place now that one of the world's most prolific bicycle thieves has been apprehended. Canadian Igor Kenk's arrest last month has led to the recovery of 2,865 bikes that he obtained illegally. Since then, some 15,000 people have come looking for their lost two-wheelers. To date, about 500 have been reclaimed.

Police nabbed Kenk, the owner of a Toronto bicycle shop, after noticing a sharp spike in bike thefts in June. When a sting operation led to Kenk's store, it's reported that the building was crammed with so many hot cycles that some had to be removed through the windows.

Question Raised: Have you ever had your cycle snatched?
