A few weeks ago, we posted an amazing video of monkeys ice-skating. Then we got to thinking -- if monkeys can glide effortlessly across an ice rink, what can't they do?Turns out, not much. Our monkey odyssey took us through videos of the frisky creatures playing sports, operating motor bikes and even indulging in the occasional cigarette. We also saw that video where the monkey sniffs his butt and then falls out of the tree.
But in the end, we learned that there's not much difference between us and our hairy primate brothers. We laugh. We cry. We love. We operate motor bikes. And if we sniff our butts, any one of us could fall out of a tree.
Also, this monkey is really good at karate.

True story, we lived in West Hollywood Fl years ago, we had this next door neighbor Annie, her boyfriend left a full grown chimpanzee with her while he worked on the road with a circus, well Anne dressed him every day, and tied him to a tree with a collar and leash. I guess he got heat frustration, so she pours cold water on it's face. Then drags him into the garage. He died. Now a week later the dead chimp stinks, and Anne asks me to help drag him to the curb for Saturday garbage pickup. Well you guessed it, someone thought it was a dead old man, calls the police. Here we are laughing while Anne Lorenz is trying to explain that the dead stinking man is not a relative [or her missing husband], but a dead chimp. I could not make this up!

You do know that that is a crime???? It's called animal cruelty and she should have been arrested and you as an accessory since you witness this terrible treatment of a primate!!! And you think this is funny????? You should be locked in a hot garage and see how funny it is to be left to die!!!!

I fail to see the humor in this story. It's not funny, it's heatbreaking. Chimpanzees and humans share a DNA similarity of about 98%, making them one of our closest relatives. Although they do exhibit humanlike behavior and a high degree of intelligence, they are still wild animals. They should not be kept as pets or used for entertainment or biomedical testing. They belong in the wild! As for the poor chimp in the story, there should have been some justice. The caretaker should have been charged with animal cruelty. How sad it is that humans are one of the Chimpanzees biggest threats.

Oh lighten up. If it came down to it and there was no food you would be eating chimps and your house pets. Go over to Africa and tell the bushmen to stop eating chimps and see how fast you end up in a pot of boiling water. The part about the animal not getting enough water and dying is not funny but the part of the misunderstanding with the cops is hilarious. PETA = People Eating Tasty Animals

That's not at all funny. How about somebody do the same thing to you and let's see you laughing while you're in a hot garage dying from heat prostration (not frustration dummy)

I would love to take cliffy to the desert, lock him in a trunk and leave him there. He's a friggin liar who is trying to tug at the heart of "real people."
Just ignore this piece of trash.

Chimpanzees are not monkeys!!! They are apes, so get it right! And do you know how chimps are taught to act like that? They are stolen from their mothers when they are babies and in the wild they would live with their mother for years. Then they are BEATEN to do unatural and humiliating acts. ITS NOT FUNNY!!
