Police in Izu City, Japan were probably relieved and somewhat embarrassed recently when they brought what they thought was a murder victim to the medical examiner's office, but it turned out to be a life-size doll.

The seaside resort town's fuzz still aren't sure if they were victims of a hoax, after finding what they thought was a corpse wrapped up in a sleeping bag. Investigators on the scene felt the wrapped figure from the outside but never actually looked inside the sleeping bag before it was unwrapped for a post-mortem examination.

The Japanese Asahi newspaper reported that the doll was female and was created in a sophisticated manner, with a brown wig, a blouse and a skirt. It's unclear from reports whether or not the murdered doll was one of Japan's growing number of "love dolls."

Think that's embarrassing? Check out these amazing car crashes (that people actually walked away from).
