We're on the fence about whether it's right to discipline children with corporal punishment. Then again, there are times when kids do stuff that deserves one hell of a beating. That's why we're thinking a five-year-old Serbian boy is likely to get a major thrashing after blowing the equivalent of $105,000 in cash that he found in his father's safe. Djodja Markovic evidently used the money to take a group of friends shopping, buying them clothes, toys, bicycles, candy, computers and games.
His father, Slobodan Markovic (not to be confused with the mass-murdering dictator), said he only realized what had happened when his son and his friends came home carrying dozens of shopping bags.
"I must have forgotten to lock the safe and he just saw the money and took it," said the elder Markovic. "I have asked the police to investigate because it is unbelievable that the shop owners let such a young boy do this." Police are currently looking into the matter.
Maybe Djodja bought a lot of useless sports merch:

While i wasn't as graphic as you LOL, I too am sure this is a bunch of trash. There is NO WAY this could happen in the real world. Either it's made up or someone wanted their 15 min of fame!

and what is a 5 year old doing out running around with his friends blowing that kind of money?!where was an adult involved here.Do people really let their 5 yr olds run around unsupervised or what!? The parents should be held responsible for neglect here! The kid apparently hais raising himself and is pretty smart in my book.only what he should of done is taken the money and started his own business or put the money back for future use.

The only way I could believe this to be true is if his "friends" were 10 yrs old and older ..like boys in the neighborhood that saw him with the money? Computer games, etc ...but you still couldn't blow all that money unless it is cars or a house so yes, something does not smell right with this story.

The question shouldn't be "What would be a fitting punishment for little Djodja?" It should be a couple other questions:
1) "Why does anyone have $150,000 in an open safe?"
2) "Why would someone leave a safe with $105,000 unlocked?"
3) "Why did the parents not know where their 5 year old was?"
4) Where can I find an open safe with $150,000 in it?"

Maybe his "friends" are neighborhood kids, that could include a couple of teenagers. The boy could of shown them the money and they said, "Hey, let's go shopping" and took the boy to the shops. I can understand shopkeepers selling things to teenagers with the smaller children. the amount spent is probally an exaggeration. Maybe the older kids kept the rest of the money and told the boy they spent it all, which he told his father.

I applaud you on what is the most like scenario, that could answer for shop owners selling all this stuff to a child so young. He wasn't alone doing the shopping.
With that much money he had plenty of help!

Born at night, but not last night! Total BS! Most 5 year olds won't hardly carry their own small purchases let alone that much stuff!

IF - I say, IF this story is true, then this kid should learn what a razor strop is. But, this father sounds like an idiot, too, so maybe they should both be beaten? How does stupid stuff like this happen, anyway? DID it happen?

I'm sure this wise 5 year old learned his lesson already. At least he was generous. It's up to the parent to teach right from wrong, and keep your eyes on them. Who's wrong here, really? Beatings are for barbarians, unless you're raising the Exorcist or Children of the Corn, or a slack jawed yokel. Which does happen. But, I don't buy this story either.

I am sorry I don't buy this story at all! I have a 6 year old boy, He can't even CARRY that much stuff, besides Who does that who lets 5 year kid go in a store all by themselves shopping? They just learned how to talk for jeevies sake! My kid can't cross the street by himself let alone walk in a toy store with a group of other munchkins by themselves... "AWKWARD!!!" SOMEBODY CHECK THIS STORY AND RIP HIM A NEW ONE.

Um, did the kid even know that he shouldn't do that? I mean he's five, just say pirates of the carribean maybe and thinks hes found buried treasure. Makes sense he'd spend it all.

first of all i dont belive a 5 year old boy would be carring 105,000. I mean where would he put it, the father said it was in his safe now wat do you think this kid did grab all the money then put it in a masters card or a gold card. Comon that sounds dumb not to say the kid is dumb but a 5 year old just dosnt do that. I say the kid shouldnt get no punishment maybe if you took 5 or 10 dollars but 105,000 NO. There is more to this story and i know a 5 year old didnt do this or not by himself with an adult and not some little friends. Thats my opinon
