If you frequent Asylum, there's a good chance you've got a little downtime during your office drudgery. Even though you know you should catch up on old emails or neglected reports, there are times when you need to waste an hour pleasantly vegging out.

But what if you wanted to waste more than just an hour? What if you wanted to catch up on a TV series you've been missing, or movies you've been waiting to see? Don't tell anybody, but it's easier than you think.

We'll note from the outset that we accept no responsibility for your slacking. If your boss catches you and makes you stay until midnight doing scut work, don't send it our way. But if you're careful, here's how it's done.

Watch DVDs. Pretty much any computer you'll be working on in a modern office will play DVDs, and this is probably the best way to watch. The upside to Netflix? There's no trail of TV network URLs lurking on your hard drive for some IT guy to dig up.

If you're not worried about URL tracking: From network shows to full-length movies, Hulu.com is pretty much the best site for scratching your entertainment itch. It has "The Simpsons" and "The Daily Show," classic TV shows like "ALF," or feature films like "The Naked Gun" and "Sense and Sensibility" (trust us, even Jane Austen is better than work). You can also find full-length episodes of a lot of your favorite current shows on the many of the TV networks' Web sites, like NBC.com, ComedyCentral.com and AdultSwim.com.

More office entertainment enlightenment after the jump.

Sound only. Unless you're watching "Lawrence of Arabia" or "2001: A Space Odyssey," you can get the gist of most movies or TV shows by minimizing the picture or simply going sound only. Put on your headphones, press play and then hide the screen in the corner of your computer where the action isn't visible on your monitor. Now open up a word document and pretend to be editing something while quietly taking in "Harold and Kumar."

Don't watch porn or anything else you'll be ashamed of if you're caught.
Seriously, just don't do it. Even if you haven't been notified of it, many companies have filtering systems that will either block obscene sites or flag them to your boss. Porn at your desk may invite a sexual harassment lawsuit, assure that you're fired and make people to think you're a perv (despite the fact that porn is the Internet's bedrock and, in our opinion, a most valuable resource).

Don't download anything -- legally or illegally. It may be tempting to get a full episode of "Weeds" off iTunes and store it in an obscure part of your hard drive, but, again, it leaves a traceable trail of files that someone can find. Even if you're carefully deleting everything after you watch it, IT departments can retrieve those files or find some record of them. Furthermore, illegal downloading isn't just cheating a rich artist out of a royalty check they so desperately need for Bentley payments -- it also invites scrutiny from people on the other side. And who wants to get fired on top of being hit with a lawsuit over your ill-conceived decision to watch an illegal download of "The Hills"?
