Israeli police are seeking to break up demonstrations by taking a cue from George Clinton and bringing the funk. It's being reported that the local fuzz will soon be dispersing crowds with super-charged stink bombs.Starting last month, Wired's Danger Room blog began noticing that police in the Mideast nation were using a water-spraying device that propels awful-smelling liquid meant to get rioters to head home and change clothes to escape the stench. The chemical weapon has apparently been approved by "medical and legal authorities," and has a rich aroma of raw sewage that's not easily washed off.
The stink bombs are meant to improve upon the conventional dispersal weapons -- including rubber bullets and tear gas -- and the U.S. Army is said to be interested in the Israelis' funky stuff.
