Marijuana arrests have risen over the last four years, leading to a marijuana smoker being arrested every 38 seconds.According to FBI crime statistics, marijuana arrests have reached record highs, and now account for 44 percent of all drug arrests in the United States. This increase comes at a time when arrests for cocaine (despite conflicting impressions on Asylum) and heroin have been on the decline.
Last year, only 11 percent of all marijuana bookings were for sale or manufacture of the drug. This means the total number of people arrested for pot possession exceeded arrests for all other violent crime combined.
If you're the type that's bothered by the misappropriation of justice system resources, you'll agree that these stats are what pot smokers call a "bummer."

You should read the following two bills:
H.R. 5842: Medical Marijuana Patient Protection Act
AND
H.R. 5843: Act to Remove Federal Penalties for the Personal Use of Marijuana by Responsible Adults
Don't forget to tell your friends to read it too.
Also, check out a patent that the government has, its number 6630507. It was probably approve in 2003 in preparation to the two bills mentioned above.
