Each week, we get a woman to tell us about a guy's oafish attempt to impress her. Why? We want to learn something from the fairer sex. (OK, we also want to laugh at the tool.) If you have a tale, e-mail it to us.
Jamy, from Grateful Dating writes: "Currently, I'm living in Paris for six months. The neighborhood where I live is safe, but since I'm on the ground floor, my apartment is not as private as I would like. I have one large window that opens directly on the sidewalk. At night, if I have the lights on, you can see directly in -- so I close the shutters or turn off the lights when it gets dark outside. One evening, I heard a voice: "Salut? Allo? Bonsoir?" I jumped up and saw man standing outside my window. He was 20-something, good looking, with a diamond stud earring in one ear.

When I stood at the window and started to talk to him, he told me I was "très jolie" (very pretty) and asked if I wanted to get something to eat with him. I was so astonished that I didn't get angry. I told him no because it was almost 11pm (late for eating, even by French standards) and he was a strange man asking me out through my window.
In a state of confusion I foolishly gave him my number and he said he'd call me the next day for dinner. Thankfully, I did not hear from him, and I mistakenly thought that was the end of it. Two weeks later, I heard a voice outside my window. It was the guy. He said he'd tried to call me but the number didn't work.
He said, (in French), "Do you want to go eat with me now? Will you come out?"
I said, "No! I am in my house."
"Can I come into your house?" he said.
"NO!"
With my last and most emphatic rejection, he got the message and sulked away. I almost felt sorry for him.
Lesson #1: Asking a girl out with a locked door between you is pretty much verboten. It's like being a vampire -- you have to be invited in.
Lesson #2: If a girl gives you the wrong number, it's probably on purpose.
