Men Are Wired to Fall Asleep After Sex

The biological makeup of men causes them to fall asleep after sex, while women are wired for post-sex cuddling.

According to sex therapist Ian Kerner, males experience an intense rush of chemicals, including dopamine, during the early stages of a sexual experience. After they are done with the encounter, the buzz quickly wears off. The sensory depletion combined with blood quickly flowing away from the genitals makes it difficult for guys to stay awake.

Adversely, post-coital women are awash in oxytocin –- which is known as the cuddle hormone. "I think it's fair to say men are shattered and women are still in the moment," Kerner explains.

So there is your biologically backed excuse for conking out after getting some. Use it wisely, and remember, the logic of science may not always prevail.
