As the recent New York Anime Festival attests, Japanese animation isn't all giant robots and schoolgirl panty-flashes. Turns out it's mostly giant robot panty-flashes. These days anime culture covers a broad spectrum, from Adult Swim to video games to that section of Barnes & Noble where all the emo kids camp out.Despite anime's rampant mainstreaming, one element remains intact -- scantily-clad action babes. Even the most tame anime series features at least one doe-eyed hottie who's prone to bending over for the flimsiest of reasons. Thankfully, events like the NY Anime Festival and the World Cosplay Summit -- much like our treasured comic conventions -- inspire plenty of real-life ladies around the world to don tights, wigs and myriad paraphernalia to celebrate all that is anime.
Super high-jump into our gallery of anime and video game babes, expand your horizons and power up. Mighty Power Rocketship Team Asylum, go!

Ahhh, the ignorance of America. You all are idiots for not even realizing the beauty of those cosplays. One of the pictures you took was the World Cosplay Summit winning team!
GODDAMMIT, RESEARCH, WHAT KIND OF REPORTER ARE YOU???

This is the second article I've seen in the past month implying that Gurren Lagann involves tentacle rape. What's up? Is it just Yoko's outfit? Because apparently I missed every single sex scene last time I watched the series.

its already been said here but, some of these cosplayers, well werent that good. so why the big deal? there are just as many guys out there a number of which are also as scantily clad as some ladies ;) kinda makes ya wonder if the author is homophobic or just a pervert ;)
either way, said writer needs to do a little more anime and cosplay research before writing a nation wide article devoted to a topic with such a devoted following.

Uhm, does this imply that all girls who like anime are supposed to be hot babes?
I mean... come on, guys. Sexist much? Next time do an article on "Quality Cosplay" or "The Girls/Characters Behind the Costumes" or something. Give us something that actually wows us, not half put together costumes.
I mean, anime's not something that revolves around "Hot babes" anymore. Some of it is, but look at artists like Matsuri Hino writing things like "WANTED." Characters that are beautiful, not "sexy." Instead of focusing on cosplayers who use characters like Yoko, try focusing on Nias or the younger Black Siblings...
Stereotypes, dears, are things to be avoided.
*Sigh* Not like anyone's going to listen anyway.

Oh noes. Someone thinks that they made a valid argument. In all reality, ssuqui, you have no idea what you're talking about. I have never in my entire life believed that when I dress as an anime character, that I am an anime character. Explain how the fandom is corrupt? Did it do something to you? From your vague comment I'm guessing you were shunned by other otaku for hating conventions. Or maybe you got kicked out of a convention for annoying a cosplayer? So let me call the waaaaambulance for you. Honestly, if you're going to make a comment, why not make your opinion clear? WHY are conventions crap? WHY is the fandom corrupt? Allow me to inquire this, open my eyes how? Last time I checked they were open when I did my last cosplay. And I do declare it a miracle! They're open right now. And you know what this sudden eye opening experience is telling me? That you really have no idea what you are talking about. Sir and/or Ma'am, your comment was genuinely stupid. You are supporting a negative stereotype about cosplayers and have therefore not evolved past the point of pre-adolescence. How is cosplay different from a Halloween costume or a masquerade costume? Or even a man in a Santa costume? It's just anime themed. I guess now I have to lower myself to your standards to try to make sense of your utter nonsense. So you must be saying that you despise children in Halloween costumes? Men trying to make a living as mall Santa’s too? You have made the mistake with the assumption that all cosplayers are the same, that they disguise themselves and have now nullified your “argument”. You have provided enough proof that you don’t understand any function of what you refer to as the “fandom”. Kindly get rid of your unwarranted sense of self importance and get off the internets. To paraphrase a line in the movie Billy Madison: You were nowhere close to a rational thought. Everyone is now dumber for having read your comment. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul.
TL;DR: YOU have no idea what you are talking about, ssuqui. GTFO.

Ok I've gone to plenty of anime cons and the biggest thing that pisses me off is when fat chicks and ugly ppl try to be a hot anime character. I always adhere to the sacred three rules of true anime conventions goers.
Rule 1--Know and like the anime and anime character your cosplaying as.
Rule 2--If your gona cosplay, don't half-ass it and become an unrecogniziable character
Rule 3--YOU HAVE TO BE ABLE TO PULL OFF WHATEVER CHARACTER TO WANT TO COSPLAY AS!!!!!
If your anime character is skinny, slender, and hot then you should be skinny and not ugly at least too when u decide you can pull off that character. I hate it when all these fat chicks or ugly girls try to cosplay as someone hot in anime, but they cannot pull off the look.
I'm a guy and I cosplay knowing and choosing a character that i like and know for sure that i can pull off perfectly, body shape and all (although i am skinny, so it does help)
