Panhandlers can earn between $30 to $40 an hour, according to a new study.In a report commissioned by the city of Spokane, Washington, researchers found that most panhandlers are not actually homeless. However, street beggars do frequently suffer from substance abuse problems, often have criminal records and rarely have (traditional) employment.
They also found that a successful panhandler can make twice the hourly wage of the average American worker, who makes about $19 an hour.
An Asylum study has found panhandlers are also much tanner than the typical office slave, and get to meet all kinds of new and interesting people each day. Just something to think about if you are considering a career change and have no shame.

I don't give these lazy asses anything. I'll only give if I see they have a physical disability that makes them unable to work. And I don't believe they can make $30 to $40 an hour. They have to be lying. There can't be that many people stupid enough to give their hard-earned money to these loafers.

Sometimes people who are pan handling have a disability that does not allow them to work that is not physical or easily observed. Some people with mental illnesses, who are bi-polar or manic depressive, among other things, cannot hold down a job for very long. Also, back injuries or lung conditions that prevent people from working are not visible to the eye. Some (not all, certainly) panhandlers really can't support themselves and rely on the kindness of community.

Oh they can and do make that much money. I know of at least 2 instances where panhandlers have more than me. One of them died and the cops found over $100,000.00 under his bed. Another one bought a brand new Mercedes CASH! And then there are the ones that are asking me for money, and they have BRAND NEW Air Jordans, Tommy Hilfiger jeans etc... I don't give them anything, why should I, they have more than me.

HA!! You are very wrong back when I was young and my ex and I got homeless and we ran across two homeless men that gave us the idea to ask..because I was pregnant and hungry I had to do something well my ex had one leg we stood out there with a sign that said stranded hungry please help us God bless!! we got 400 dollars in one hr....was amazing wow...I give now everytime I see the homless tho cause alot of them are not mentally stable or physically stable to hold a job..and when I give I dont care what they buy its outta my hands and in Gods....remember that!!!

Dont give any of them a penney for thier drugs and beer. If you cant resist the ones that say they need money for food, Ask them what they want to eat and tell them you will go get it. You will be surprised how quickly they lose thier appetite.

Honey look around you where I live in md. There is a woman that sits out and begs and has her kids beg with her. I have learned this her side business she does on the weekend and lives better than me. So please do not Be fooled. The stats is true. And have personally witnessed it. I use to feel so sry for these ppl but the fact remains they live better than you and I.

That one about the dollar bet was good I got to hand it to that guy. It is nuts but trueabout these guys making good money. It has been known for years though.In the early 90s We had a guy that would get his buks on the curb about a block from where he staied.Merriot presidential suite every night. I knew some people that worked there and he was paying over $150.00 a night Plus over 20 bucks per meal.People thats over $6000.00 per month. Thats even good almost 20 years later

I never give money to anyone that doesn't provide a service. Running a greasy cloth across my car window doesn't even come close!
I find the "homeless" people in Dallas to be annoying and bothersome when they glare in the window at me. Male or female, it doesn't matter.
Many would take the money and drink themselves silly and cause the police to deal with them, why should I waste the police officers time with THAT?

I asked the local Mission one time why I saw so many people on the street when I was giving the Mission so much money. They said often the beggars stay and eat at the Mission, but the Mission will not give them booze or cigs so they go out and beg for money for booze/cigs. I still give to the Mission because they do good work and help people, but I do not give to panhandlers...

I know this to be a fact. I spoke to one once and he told me how much he made WOW it was GOOD. I was having a hard time and this man left bags of groceries on my door when I wasn't at home. He told my neighbors his name was " Junk yard" and that was all. I said with a name like that I surely could find him and thank him. I found him about a week later. He was the one that told me he gave all the food to needy people and kept the bunches of money he made pan handling.

i think that this is the lowest form of life! i have heard stories before of panhandlers living grander lives than those they bum from, and it disgusts me! there are ppl out here really struggling to make ends meet, working 2 and 3 jobs to provide for their families, and those who do this have the nerve to dress & pretend to be homeless. True homelessness is nothing to mock, and i wish everyone of them who abuses the kindness of folks who give would lose everything they got through fraud charges, put in jail, and after they served their time get out here and learn the hard way what its really like to be HOMELESS!!
