Wall Street is at the center of a storm of layoffs, dire warnings about our financial future and collapsing corporations, so you might think that those living around the financial center would have larger concerns than doin' it.You'd be wrong, though, because randy New Yorkers are apparently not letting the economic downturn affect their city's prostitution industry. According to a few ladies interviewed by the New York Daily News, the economy hasn't impacted the affordably priced sector of the skin trade.
One hooker named "Dylan," whose rate is $260 an hour -- far below the high-end $4,000 Ashley Dupre range -- says simply: "If men are horny, they're going to come in here." One of the other ladies at her brothel, "Sara," says: "Some of them seem depressed, and they just want a place to get away from it."
Still, they admit that some of their clients are opting for a half-hour quickie, rather than the full-on works, and that their tips are down.
Question Raised: Is it acceptable to skimp on hooker tips when times are tough?
