Women are attracted to men who perform highly coordinated, controlled and complex movements on the dance floor.Peter Lovatt, a professional dancer turned psychologist, recorded 15 short video clips of himself performing different dance moves with his features blurred out so only his movements were visible. He then asked 55 women to rate these motions on masculinity, dominance and attractiveness.
Travolta-style controlled flamboyance impressed the ladies most on all fronts. Men who dance self-consciously by shifting their weight from foot to foot, accompanied by occasional hand wringing, ranked low. If impressing the ladies is your destination, there should be no parking on the dance floor.
Lovatt's advice to those cursed to shuffle around in timid motions is to remember to throw out a few random moves, which will make you more eye-catching and enhance your appearance of masculinity. But not too random. That's how people lose eyes (and a chance to get the digits).
