Few things are more dangerous than standing on the roof of a moving vehicle, but a New Zealand man didn't let that stop him from celebrating the end of his probation with a session of urban surfing. Consequently, Kane Heal, 22, suffered serious facial injuries when he was thrown from a car at 40 mph and slid along the road. Heal was allegedly also mooning passersby in the town of North Canterbury before being vaulted from the vehicle driven by his girlfriend.
Heal was recently released from a home-detention sentence for receiving stolen property, and had worked for most of his sentence to earn enough money to buy the car. He's described as a "nice kid" by his lawyer.
The most famous car surfing scene in modern culture is, of course, the one pictured here from the movie "Teen Wolf." Unfortunately, we will never know if Heal might have been spared his fall if he had lupine balance and Stiles was driving.
