There are special voting provisions made so that American citizens who are living overseas can cast their ballots. It turns out that the elections commission also lets citizens vote for political representation while they are living outside of the globe.Expedition 10 Commander Leroy Chiao, who is currently living on the International Space Station 230 miles above the surface of Earth, will have his vote counted Tuesday, thanks to a 1997 bill from Texas lawmakers that set up a procedure for astronauts to vote from space.
An electronic ballot from the Galveston Clerk's office will be emailed to a secure NASA account and then transferred to Chaio via satellite. Chaio will then vote and the secure email will be routed back to the clerk's office. He will be the first American to cast a vote for president from outer space.
In order to turn space blue, we suspect the Obama campaign will drop a few million to beam Chiao their infomercial.
